WOYWW #109

I know, I know...ridiculously late again! I only got in from work at 9.00pm...indeed that is 13 hours (again). Mental note to self...speak to boss in the morning regarding ridiculous workload!

Well it's week 109 of the blogging phenomenon What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday, here and our esteemed leader, the fair and lovely Lady Julia, is back off her hols. I'd like to say a huge WELL DONE and thank you to the fabulous Lunch Lady Jan, who filled in so brilliantly...she has her own blog now...(knew she'd get addicted hahahaha)...pop over and show her some love!

As I'm late, the waffle will be kept to a minimum...I also have to repackage and resend a couple of things for my lovely DTmate Mandy, as Royal Mail botched it up and sent it back to me! Is there anything faster than next day delivery?!!!

Well folks, here's my workspace as it is right now.

The 'bones' of a project that I have to complete...tonight! Along with my usual mess...one of these weeks I'm going to seriously surprise you all with a clear workspace...promise!

The completed project will be up at 11.00pm on Sunday night...pop over and have a shufty, it will be a new challenge at Hooked on Craft :)

Right, I'm off to snoop and rekindle my deflated mojo.

Thanks for popping over.

WOYWW

A little late, sorry peeps, had a manic day at work-a real mare! Then got home to a message of Mum, saying that her and Dad were moving.......on Monday! Shocked, much?!!!

Anyway it's What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday, over at the great Lady Julia's blog here where we have the famous Lunch Lady Jan, standing in for Lady D.....who is off sunning herself on foreign shores-lucky girl!

Anyhoooooo, here we go.......

A few things on the go.....hence the mess hahahaha!

On the left is a secret project, it's a surprise for someone who may well pop in for a snoop today...sorry folks you're gonna have to wait until it's winged it's way to her before you can have a looksee :(

Also on the go are a couple of matching Tildas for some challenges.

The bigger one will be going onto a card, with the sentiment and the matching wee little mini Tilda will eventually be gracing the pale yellow 'gift box in progress', also on my desk this week.....just all need assembling now.

Right, I'm off for a little (mahoosive) snoop now.....then I'll be working on a 'New Home' card for the ageing parents! Who'd have thunk?!!!

Thanks for popping over.

*hugs* Sal x

Following Problems!

Man oh man, am I frustrated!

Is it just some stupid thing I've done, or has the 'Follow' button disappeared from everyone's screen? All I have now is a 'Share' button...I'm sure I didn't have that before! I've found some great blogs out there and have some new followers that I would like to follow also, I may even sling my toys out of the pram and throw a hissy fit!

Oh, please, please help me, I can feel a 'moment' coming on!

Hooked on Craft Challenge DT Card

Well, it's time for the 2nd challenge at Hooked on Craft Challenges and I must say that I think we were all completely blown away with the entries for the first one, well over 300!!! To say I was amazed is a bit of an understatement and also maybe a little exhausted after trying to get around to as many of the entries as I could. Can I just say thank you, to all those who participated and made it such a success and I hope to see you all again at this fortnights' challenge, which is, SHOW US YOUR FLOWERS.

I'm sure you all saw my previous post, which was my failed, first attempt at this one.....it was a blockage in the spritzer that caused it and the offending bottle has gone back to the shop, it seems some glitter got into the mix with the mica powder.....I feel somewhat vindicated by this new information lol!

Anyway, onto the card...

A little different from the first one!

It's 8x8, on a Coredinations card base, there are a ton of die cuts in there and plenty of blinging jewels. I covered all of the flowers, which can be puchased from Hooked on Craft, here , with my fave Glamour Dust before assembling them into bouquets. At the bottom, I've used  a strip of olive green coredinations cardstock, covered it with double sided adhesive, topped with some olive green mesh ribbon, also from Hooked on Craft, and then rubbed more Glamour Dust into all the spaces. Edged the strip with some white Martha Stewart punched borders.

I couldn't decide on a greeting, so dug out some pink with white stars, chipboard letters-obviously gave the stars a touch of the old GD as well-and stuck them to the strip with silicone adhesive. I'm not completely sure where the paper came from, it was a freebie with a magazine some time back but I mounted that onto more of the same olive green cardstock and added a gazzilion pink gems around the outside.

Hope you like it and are going to pop over to the challenge to join in with us! It kicks off at 11.00pm tonight British time, see you there!

*hugs* Sal x

Failed DT Card!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today, I will share the bad with you, a truly devastating boo!

I can't tell you what the challenge theme is, you'll have to wait wait until Monday for the NEW DT card, sorry :(

Man oh man! Failiure, big style, what a mess!

The bouquet was beautiful, took ages to put together but something was missing.....then I had a brainwave.....a teeny spray of licac glimmer mist.....bad idea!

Firstly, does THAT look lilac to you?! Secondly, the first spritz was lovely...nice fine spray but a bit light...the second spritz showered the whole darn thing in huge globules and the ink spred everywhere! Then the tears started flowing and I mean in Amazonian proportions :(

See it doesn't even look better all fuzzy!!!

And the moral of the story? Spritz BEFORE assembly, leave brainwaves for unimportant projects and share mistakes with others, so they don't make them! Lol, well that's it for now folks...I'm off to check out your gorgeous creations.

Thanks for popping in.

*hugs* Sal x

WOYWW

Soooooooo what's on my workdesk today then? For those of you still out in the cold, lol, pop on over to our esteemed leader, the illustrious Lady Dunnit's blog here and have shufty at what I'm waffling on about hehehe!

Well, as you all know, my lappy went in for another new hard drive a couple of weeks ago.....and I'm still waiting for it's return.....so me being me, couldn't wait any longer and went and bought a new one! Well, to be fair, the other one's that old, Noah's Grand Daddy signed the bottom of it when he was a twinkle in his Pa's eye!

Bet ya can't guess what's on my workdesk then?

Yup tis the new baban, flaunting the new challenge blog that I'm a proud member of the Design Team for lol! 1st challenge, Anything Goes, still has a few days to run so come on over here and share the lurve! Ok end of advert hehehe :)

See how luverly it looks, pay no attention what-so-ever to the boxes and boxes of stashly goodness around and under the desk, the zip lock bags full of precious stash on the wall or the even more stash stored on top of my desk! Oooh, I don't know if you can pick it out but there's the end of a blue box sticking out of the left hand side of the middle shelf, it's a non stick baking sheet that I picked up in the local Pound shop, I had to get it and am going to give it the full Glimmer Mist trial, if it works I'll ket you know! BUT do please pay attention to my fab PiF gifts that are hanging on the desk and wall! I still can't believe how lucky I was to receive them, Thanks so much again Sylvia! x

On the desk are some Twelve by 12 papers that I'm using at the moment and some bits that I've been 'playing with' tonight!

Ooops, the plug just slipped in there again!

There's some Tim Holtz Tattered Floral die cuts that I've been experimenting with. The large one is distressed with...tada...distress inks, coated in pva glue-then when it's nearly dry, you can mold it into shape. Once dry the centre is filled with a puddle of Glossy Accents and I popped a huge 15mm half pearl into the middle of the puddle and poured in some tiny black micro beads. Tapped off the excess when dry and hey presto! I likey it :) the smaller one is again given the distress ink treatment but then coated in Glossy Accents for a different effect, haven't decided on the 'centre treatment' yet! A stamped and Promarkered plaque, sits waiting for it's card and the curly wild rose has been literally covered with my fave Glamour Dust and is drying nicely :))

That's it from me folks, I'm off to have a nose around YOUR workspaces, see y'all soon!

Thanks for popping in :)

Monday, 6 June 2011

Quick post today, I'm on a borrowed 'puter! lol the lappy's gone in for a new hard drive and will be a week or so yet...I'm getting blogging withdrawls already!

I'd done the sheep some time ago (some of you may have seen it on a WOYWW post, on my magnetic board) and he was just so cute looking at me, I knew I had to use him up!

Gingham paper was the way forward for this little fella and I just love green, white and pink together. So added some cotton lace, green seam binding ribbon, pearls, dew drops, die cut corner and flowers and a greeting.....along with lashings of glitter!

The flower is made from 2 die cuts of slightly different sizes, shaped to give them a bit of dimension, a big blob of icicle stickles and a big half pearl for the centre.

Thanks for taking the time to pop over for a peek!

*hugs* Sal x

WOYWW week #104..........is here!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, before the piccies and gobbledegook relating to my now severely overcrowded workspace, can I just send a hoooooooooooge congratulations to the incredible Lady D who thought this whole thing up, well Dun(nit) sistah, 2 years! Woohoo!

HAPPY 2nd ANNIVERSARY!!!!!!

If you're wondering what I'm gibbering on about pop over to Lady Julia's blog here and have a look! Although I must say, I've never seen it looking so blooming clear over there!

As some of you know, my camera has been very poorly sick...piccies getting worse by the week...so on the bank Holiday I popped into a high street emporium (who were having a half price sale!) and got me a new one! Now I feel a little shamed, as the picture quality is so blinking good, it shows my workspace to be the messy place it truly is! Hahahaha

See what I mean?!!!

Ok, we'll start bottom left and work our way round...a ginormous pile of stash, that I've pulled out to work on various projects and not yet put away (including my cropadile), sheepish look here, large stack of dvd's..which I 'listen to' whilst crafting, all my glitters, pearls, gems and charms. Files and folders full of more precious stashly papers and things.
Middle top, drawers full of ribbons and other fabulous crafty things, stickles, liquid pearls, shimmer mists.
Right, magnetic board with stamped and coloured/painted images ready for as yet unmade cards! Old Papermania storage boxes full of H20's and Cosmic Shimmer paints, fusible fibres and films, metal embossing stencils, chipboards, 12x12 storage boxes (with more precious papers in!), box of new stamps (which I haven't yet catalogued and put in the file!), quilling board and my super Dahle rotary paper trimmer with about a zillion different blades (I love this bit of kit!).
Under the desk you can see a variety of totes, which I use to both store additional stash in and for my community workshops and groups that I run...and maybe a few 'jiffy' bags with more stash that I haven't yet found a home for! (another sheepish look!)
Oooh what's in the middle of the piccie?  My usual accents stash, well battered and inked cutting mat, a couple of toppers that are nearly finished (there may even be a sneak peek of the DT piece I'm working on, I do lurve shrink plastic!) and ...oh what's that gift box?

Just look at all that glamour dust on those card toppers, ink pads all left out...slap my wrist!

Oh, the box?

It's a chinese takeaway gift box that I've made for this very, very special occasion that is WOYWW #104 PiF!!!!!

Lovely double sided card, one of my most, most, most favourite gardenias, from Wild Orchid...what's that? There's no name on it yet? That's because I don't know who it's going to be winging it's way to, not until I post this and see...how mega exciting is that?!!!

What's inside, did you say?

Well

It's a surprise, for the crafter who get's the box!!!!!

All I can say is that, as a fellow crafter, I would be very happy to get it! Hehehehe :)

Thanks for popping over to have a peek around my clutter, on this most auspicious of occasions! I'm off to snoop around your workdesks now...catch you later!

*hugs* Sal x

Sooooo, what's on my workdesk today? On the left is the small one's GCSE Textiles book.....homework was 'Textures', so she's raided my stash. Some cotton buds, my glitters and cropadile are behind that and files full of all sorts are up the back.
On my shelves are stickles, liquid pearls, dew drops, mini drawers full of ribbony bits and bobs......oh and half a dozen new shimmer spritz sprays that I bought on Saturday......I needed them ok?! lol
Then there's my mini drawers, these have caused a bit of a stir over the last few weeks with lots of people wanting to know where to get them from.....well, ok then, they're from Poundland, they come in a stack of 3 but the lid pops off and you can add as many as you want.....that little lot set me back 9 quid, bargain or what!!!!!?
On the desk itself is a big white jiffy bag.....I'll tell you all about that in a mo! My notebook, for blog challenges, distress crackle paints, a quilling board, baby wipes and glue gel......my scissor pot has new residents (a quote from Jaws springs to mind here...we need a bigger POT ahahaha), some really cute pale blue and white polka dot scissors that were just crying out to be bought.....and my usual stash of Ranger Accents and glamour dust etc

Right, back to that white jiffy bag......the one with the Airmail stickers on!

This is my exciting news!

I have been chosen to be a DT member for a new challenge blog, for Australian craft suppliers 'Hooked on Craft'! Yes me.....woohoo, the package is my DT starter pack.....so, so many luverly, luverly things, can't divulge too much but I can tell you that Karen's stamps are soooooo cute and the trinket pins (that are hand made by Karen herself) are to die for, absolutely B E A utiful! Karen is the lovely, hardworking owner of Hooked on Craft.....who's set her business up whilst working full time as well! A truly inspiring lady!

The challenges start on Monday June 13th and will run every fortnight, there will be prizes and vouchers for the online store. I'm so excited I can't contain myself!

Why don't you have a peek at the challenge blog here become a follower and show them some love and join in with us!

Anyhoooo, I'm off to start on my first DT card.....how exciting is that!!!!

I'll be snooping around your desks first though.....need to get my nosey fix for the week!

Coffee break 'shout out' to the Ribbon Girl!

Just a quickie, have a few pretties to post later.....and am on a short coffee break at work!

Since I started doing this blogging lark, I've come accross some really fab new suppliers and after seeing american seam binding used beautifully on lots of your beautifully crafted cards, I went searching for some......well Mr Postman came really early this morning, with my parcel from The Ribbon Girl.

Packaged in fushia pink tissue, tied off with a white ribbon bow (Christmas!) was my much sought after seam binding.....along with some other bits (you know what it's like!) and I was not disappointed, it's incredibly beautiful.

Even though I'm in work til 8.30 tonight (again :(  ) I will be playing later....

Ah well, back to the daily ground.....see you all later!

*hugs* Sal x
